“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

We ARE going Mauritius!!!!

March 1st-5th, 2012

We have been in rough seas since we left South Africa. We had to slow down speed a lot because of Tropical Cyclone Irene. We were told we were not going to make it to our next port, Mauritius, on time. We were expected to make it there between 9:00pm-1:00am our time (noon-4:00pm Ohio time) on March 6th instead of 8:00am (this put us a whole day behind). Everyone was pretty bummed about that because we just want to get off the ship. We were also bummed about not being able to see any of the island since it would have been dark.

March 6th, 2012

Today was a prime day to lay on the pool deck... and that was where everyone was. It was crazy... chairs lined from side to side. There were even chairs all on the athletic courts. We has no classes today since we should have been in port. They also had BRUNCH! Everyone was ecstatic for that. Breakfast is everyone's favorite meal here (for the most part) and it ends at 8:30am, so there is no sleeping in if you want to eat it. To try to make us all in a better mood, they are offered brunch from 10:00-1:00. They are also having a barbecue cookout tonight. While everyone was laying out, the afternoon announcements came on. They told us that we will be making it to Mauritius tonight around 10:00pm and will have to stay overnight to be able to get customs in the morning and refuel. They are allowing us to get off of the ship from 8:00am-noon tomorrow. There was a wave of happiness and screaming on the ship. The mood has totally changed. We have pre-port tonight. We were supposed to have Sea Olympics on Friday, but since we are not having classes tomorrow, they are rescheduling that so that we have four days straight of classes before India. More on Mauritius  soon!!!
